Default Buffering Issue

Hi Adrian,

Great file, love everything about it - but need a little help with buffering.

I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, but basically when it's set to autoplay, it plays it as soon as it's up - which causes stuttering so I've tried raising the buffering to all kinds of different values (5, 10, 20, 300, etc) and it appears to make no difference to the end result.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

All the best,

Michael

Try these:

- Open FLVPlayback.as at line 271:

Code:
_bufferTime = 0.1; // change here the buffer time to the desired value
- then at line 294 do the same thing (set the same value as previous)

Hi Adrian,

Many thanks for your reply. I've initially raised the buffer to 0.8 (is that 8 seconds)?

It still appears to stutter. If I've got it wrong, I shall retest adjusting the AS and settings.xml file to be buffersize of "8".

Have a look here and see what I mean please:

Many thanks!

Default Any luck?

Hi Adrian - I posted a reply a while back in response to your advice about increasing the buffer time and it didn't work.

Was just wondering if you had any other suggestions?

Would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Michael

That should work fine. Make sure you republish the swf after doing those alterations

Default still not working

Hi Adrian,

Thanks for your reply.

I've gone through and checked and checked again and done exactly as you said. I'm not an expert coder like you, but I know enough to make alterations like this so I'm pretty sure I'm doing it right.

I've experimented with adjusting the buffer times to all different values changing them in the places you suggest (and also echoing those changes in the XML file) and still the video plays the instant it loads and thus causes stuttering.

Please have a look at this link to see what I mean.

Could you possibly send me fresh a file that you have that you know definitely works, or maybe show me a link with a video that has a clear buffer time on it so I can see it working?

Many thanks again for taking the time to help me resolve this,

All the best,

Michael

Default updated reply

Hi Adrian,

I went ahead and started from scratch re-unpacking the ZIP I downloaded from Flashden.

I've uploaded the "test" folder to the location I gave you above and again did the same thing, and still the same thing happens.

If you go to the link:

You'll notice that the cloud FLV continually stutters on playback.

I've increased the buffer times first in small increments, e.g. 0.5, 0.7, 0.9.

Then I tried 1, 10, 100, 1000.

Each time remembering to republish, but I swear to you, it's making absolutely no discernable difference to the way it loads and plays.

I've also checked the demo page on Flashden where u give the example, and it does the very same thing there:

Obviously, as soon as the FLV is loaded completely, playback is as smooth as anything.

Sorry to be such a hassle trying to get this to work, but it's actually my favourite FLV player feature wise, yet at the moment I'm having to use other players that aren't as good - but are functioning perfectly.

Many thanks again!

Michael
