How to hide image strip

So far so good...the only thing is my news scroller is located at the bottom of a 600 pixel high movie. As a result, you can see a strip of the images in my xml lined up next to each other. I gather they are there for some type of reference, but no matter what layer I put the scroller on, this image strip always appears on the top level.

I can't mask it because I then lose the dynamically loaded text.

Any help would be really appreciated.
